A charming little park, the special rules for dogs limiting their movement were in force as the mule deer here can be aggressive when guarding their fawns. We have previously spent ages getting mule deer pics: here we had one with afterbirth still apparent sleep about 6ft away. These mule deer love eating gambel oak, which surround the campsite so are frequent visitors. We added viewings of another two snake species; the green smooth snake and water garter snake. Sadly they ran away too fast for us to get a photo. Ranger talks on geology, sounds of the park and stories of the park followed.
The rock of this canyon is so ancient you only get rock this old at the very bottom of the Grand Canyon. Even the Victorians gave up fully exploring this park at first.
We drove down the canyon and gained smelly smoky brakes that took quite a while to settle down. The only disadvantage to this park is the lack of long walks.
