Lubbock
Lubbock On our way to visit Murray's cousin Karen and her husband James. Lubbock is a Uni town with lots of new buildings. There are prairie dogs on vacant lots and they just ignore the human activity around them. We had a great time in the Mexican restaurant (sangria made with ginger beer?). The following day we set off with Karen to go to their cabin in the mountains via Roswell and Lincoln. On the way a Texas State Trooper stopped Caroline for speeding. These guys are the most powerful cops and can pretty much arrest you for anything. Anyway he asked to see her drivers licence, with the reply that it was in her handbag in the boot. He had no clue what that meant, so Karen had to translate that it was in her purse in the trunk – we were speaking a different language. Foreign licences don't work in their system, so the Trooper issued a warning and we were on our way. Braking for numerous suicidal road runners and someone moving house (literally – the house was on a truck) and then we were in Roswell. |
