This whole area is beautiful farming
area with no real road system and dotted everywhere with 1st-8thC
memorials. Gods, mythical creatures abound as each main grave has
its
own guardians. An Andean culture is responsible for all this
wonder,
but is not even named. Out of all the sites we visited only one
had a
clear purpose and that was the sacrifice of any deformed babies as
it
was believed that each subsequent generation would be more and
more
deformed. We visited as many sites as possible, by foot, jeep and
horseback. We really enjoyed the horse ride and at one point the
horses decided to all line up and jostle for position in a race up
the hill – great fun.
