Salamander's crew on land leave, on a cruise ship!
We have booked a cruise that the G Expedition crew will only let us call an expedition as we do not know for certain exactly where we will be as everything is weather dependent (situation normal for us). It all starts in Montevideo, Uruguay as the cruise ship is on its way down to Antarctica from the Arctic so this is part delivery trip to Ushuaia, Argentina. Montevideo is apparently home to the Argentinian Tango and has much urban art. This was a truly amazing trip, with human history, exploration, a walk in the steps of sir Ernest Shackleton and an exponential increase in our knowledge of penguins. We start with 4 days at sea en route to the Falklands with vast quantities of food, no exercise, lots of chat and lectures and films on subjects varying from penguins, sea mammals, the Falklands war, whaling and global warming.
