Impressive sand dunes made of gypsum. A fun day of sledging for all. Unfortunately we had to leave the park early due to a military evacuation for missile testing.

The nearest town is Alamogordo, which, to be honest, is a bit of a dump. A road sign here says 'Notice – Do Not Pick Up Hitch-hikers, Detention Centers In This Area', a cheery thought.

You can visit the site of the first ever atomic bomb detonation here, but (un)fortunately it's only open 2 days a year.
