Marquesas - Oa Pou

Salamander

Our slowest sail ever to here - 1.5 knots for part of it, drifting with the current.
Stunning landscape, tantalisingly hiding behind clouds. Friendly locals - Australian Keith's Marquesan wife pleased Murray with a free piece of banana pie from her shop's fridge.
The guide book said good holding in the anchorage. Having helped a fully crewed 20+m ketch recover her stern anchor from the mud, it came as no surprise when ours refused to budge. For the first time we used the electric anchor winch at the bow to recover the stern anchor.

The clouds cleared just before we left.

This is the entrance sign for the local primary school, which must be the age when they start to teach sculpture!
