What a complete contrast to Glacier; a landscape so peculiar and at odds with the rest of Idaho and the US NASA trained astronauts here when they were going to the moon and now they are training Mars Rover drivers. This is the only place where the geology matches that of other planets.
The snow cones contain snow (and hats), the splatter cones and lava beds look like a frozen mud bath. The caves are great fun, little scrabbles in and a chance to be back in the dark. We enjoyed the Indian Tunnel.
