Even more luck as we saw a wildlife guide, who lets us tag along for free with her group and we got to see a blue penguin in it's nesting box. In 20 years - this guide had never seen one of these penguins come ashore in the daytime until the little cutie hopped along the beah right in front of us.
 
 
 
A marked difference in climate between North and South island; even the school uniform here of virtually ankle length kilts highlights the fact that it is not warm especially considering this is the height of summer!!!
