The green leaves on the garlands were painted with coconut oil to make them shine. Mere and Jone gave us fruit and a pandanus mat as farewell gifts, we were stunned with the mat, Mere had finished the edge with loops of colourful wool. In the past red bird feathers were used, one happy event for the birds was that with the arrival of Europeans came coloured wool, thus saving the birds from certain extinction. Full blog to follow.

You are almost up to date now with pictures. We are presently in Suva for a few days and will move out to Kandavu, forty miles or so when we have completed our chores here and seen a bit of the main island of Viti Levu.

Take care and all the best,

Love from

Barb and Rob
