The third photo shows the Rotours Canal built between 1826 and 1829 by 200 to 400 slaves of which 30 lost their lives in the process. It not only provided access for the passage of goods in and sugar out in barges but also drained large areas of swamp for agricultural use until 1979. The last picture is the beach where we had lunch and a cooling swim.
