The sheltered marina is set in a mangrove swamp within what was a US Army base. Evidence of the base is still around in the form of barracks, batteries, ammunition bunkers, lookouts, a runway, church and offices but the jungle is rapidly re-claiming its territory. As we walked in the jungle we set off a group of howler monkeys and the next morning we came across capuchins, as shown in the picture, up in the tops of the trees. They were curious and followed us back towards the marina from their safe distance aloft.
