Ithaca

The wind was blowing hard as we approached Ithaca so we took shelter in Vathi bay which looked a lot more protected than our first choice of anchorage.

However the wind still blew over the cliffs and down on us and also into the harbour so we double checked the anchor alarm was set before turning in for the night, after our chicken curry and pupadums.

After a bouncy night we set off at 9.00am to cover 50 miles to our last stop Prevaza.

I had plotted a course around the outside of Lefkada which we decided to follow since the route was already programmed, but strong headwinds and choppy seas (yuk) made me regret that decision, we should have gone on the other side of the Island through the narrow channel past Lefkas.

It would have been much more interesting and also more protected.

We arrived in the anchorage by 3pm only to spend the next couple of hours trying to get the anchor to dig in !

Eventually it must have got through the weed and then she held solid while the wind continued to blow at 20-25 knots.
