Wednesday 6th January

A lovely sail in company with ‘Jackamy’, one long tack took us to Dominica where we anchored in Prince Rupert Bay near the Purple Turtle restaurant.

On approaching the anchorage we were inundated with ‘boat boys’ offering everything from mangoes to river tours and help with mooring.

Some boys are in good boats with big motors and others, presumably just starting out in business, are on tiny surf boards with one oar and their produce balanced in a bucket on the front !

Little did we know that the rule is that you have to book your tour with the first boat that greets you and we caused a bit of an uproar between the boats when we tried booking a different boy. After a visit from the ‘president’ of the boat boys, who was very amused when Mark saluted him, we booked a tour with Andrew on Sea bird and everyone was happy.

There were lots of rally boats in the anchorage and so we all met up in Big Papas for a barbeque and ‘ jump up’ to the local reggae band.

The rum punch was lethal yet again !

We have been hearing  the reports from home about all the snowfall and sub zero temperatures, apparently it was -15 in Oxford yesterday which Derry pointed out is  colder than her freezer !

Sorry, no pics today as the internet is not working.
