Ormos Varis

A windy trip 6 miles around the NE tip of Syros and into a deep bay. The wind was gusting from over the island and the water was still quite choppy but the anchor held well and we took to the dinghy to explore the restaurants ashore.

Well, we didn’t discover any to recommend but had an average meal at the local hotel which was quite deserted, even the waiter went home before we finished !

Next day we found a lovely place for lunch at the beach on the West side of the bay serving delicious, homemade courgette pie.

After an afternoon snooze on the beach Bev & I swam back to the boat –  a fight against wind and waves – but we needed the exercise !

Later we took the bus and enjoyed a tour of the Island, checking out the next bay for moorings and eating dinner back in the main town of Ermoupolis where Bev discovered delicious mashed Fava beans that we all tucked into.
