Galapagos in sight !
Position 003:38.886S 090:02.99W We have Isla Santa Cruz in our sights and expect to be
moored around 11am (4pm UTC) – can’t wait ! I am so tired now and I was very irritable yesterday so I
think Mark will be glad to arrive too ! We sailed all through the night and we had to reef in and
slow down a bit to avoid arriving in darkness. Mark let me have a couple of hours extra sleep, bless him,
and when I took over at 5.00am I think I was a bit dazed and confused ! I plotted our position which put us dangerously close to a
small island and since we were steaming along at 7.5 knots I woke Mark again to check my plot in case urgent action was required. He quickly realised that I had plotted the co ordinate as
North instead of South, we had passed the equator whilst I was asleep and I
hadn’t even noticed ! We will have a toast to Pancakes for breakfast this morning in celebration of our imminent
arrival. My sister Alison & Ashley, Matthew & Alex are
currently on a cruise in the Galapagos before Ashley joins us for the Pacific
crossing. Their ship is in the same anchorage as us tomorrow so we are
hoping to meet them during the day. |
