Belle Ile certainly lived up to its name, a very pretty island with lots of streets full of terraced houses all painted different colours and many colourful shops and bars.

Quite different from the tranquillity of Benodet as there is a huge ferry and high speed cat that dock in the tiny harbour and the streets are full of tourists pulling along suitacases, trying to find their hotels or rent cars or catch the ferry back to France.

We decided the harbour was a bit cramped for us and we didn’t fancy the ferry wash so we picked up a visitors buoy just outside the harbour.

The sun finally broke through the fog and we spent a glorious afternoon in Belle Ile followed by sundowners in the cockpit.

A very sheltered spot from the predicted SW winds and a peaceful nights sleep……….
