We arrived in Fuengirola yesterday and anchored off the beach.

It was a bit of a shock to see beaches packed with people and local boats swarming around everywhere.

What we didn’t know was that it was a carnival day at sea, all the decorated boats set off in a procession throwing flowers out to sea and were followed by onlookers in every type of craft imaginable.

Whilst swimming in the afternoon I collected some of the floating flowers but after some frantic signalling from the locals I let them go, I was obviously interfering in some kind of ritual, oops!

By 10pm it was like Saturday night at Cowes week, even more boats congregated around us to watch a fantastic firework display.

The wind died completely during the night and the boat drifted around until it was stern to the swell giving us a very unpleasant, noisy, rolly night.

First thing this morning we moved anchorage and tucked just inside the breakwater of the marina, protected from the swell it is lovely.

Today Bev and the girls are coming out to see us, we will pick them up by dingy and bring them to the boat for swimming and lunch and this evening we have arranged to go into the marina so that we are in place ready for the arrival of the children on Monday.

The marina will be great for the children as it is central to the town and the beach, with lots to see and do. The English tourists are the only down fall, but I guess we are in that category too!

The weekend is reserved for making bread pudding for Amalia and baby food for Riley!

We have lots of photos and will post them later from a wi fi bar ashore.
