We have arrived !

We approached Antigua with full twistle rig flying and had a great last sail along the coast towards Jolly Harbour, we were all so excited.

Antigua was a fantastic sight, white sandy beaches with turquoise water and a hilly backdrop of lush green vegetation.

The entrance was a bit tricky as it is shallow and the red post, that was essential to identify before entering the harbour, had been changed to a white and red round buoy and completely repositioned.

We were first in – we seem to be making a habit of that !

The customs and immigration lived up to it’s reputation and Mark went from desk to desk in the little office, speaking to different officers and filling in exactly the same forms for each one !

Meanwhile the bow thruster was not working and the crew stayed on board to check out circuit breakers and fuse boxes to try and solve the problem before we went on round to our marina mooring. Unfortunately we haven’t yet resolved the problem and the mooring was also a bit tricky !

It was great to be met by Richard & Boot from Rally to control to show us to our mooring and hand us a Caribbean fruit basket and rum punches !

A mad scramble followed, taking all the bedding up to the laundry and sweet talking the Caribbean ‘mamas’ to do some overtime to have our laundry ready later that day.  We then had a cold beer at the yacht club before greeting Kirsty, Sandie, Amalia and Riley who all arrived 10 minutes later from the airport !

We are now settled onto the boat with the children and grandchildren and Sandie and Malcolm are settled into a delightful apartment on the marina.
