Day 13

Position 08:35.51S 127:24.77W A beautiful day in the South Pacific ! Ashley had another rather alarming night watch, not flying
fish this time but a very large boat that appeared all lit up behind us and
heading in our direction. ‘How could I not have seen that coming ?’,
he asked himself as he checked out the chart plotter for signs of approaching
ships, ‘It is so close, which way is it going ? Shall I wake Mark ?’ Wait a minute….that’s not a boat, it’s the
moon rising on the horizon behind some patchy clouds - phew !!! It was our turn to be net controller today (a bit like being
fat controller but on a boat) and with the help of lots of relaying we managed
to obtain all the yacht positions and report them to Rally control. Another
exhausting task that required a long a nap afterwards so Mark took care of
lunch, his speciality, hot dogs with mustard and ketchup. A relaxing afternoon reading and chatting followed by our
traditional sun downers and supper. ‘ But what was on the menu ?’ I hear you ask, so
here we go … A delicious chicken pie comprising of chicken in a white
wine sauce with onions and mushrooms topped with creamy mashed potatoes and
served with a selection of steaming green vegetables ( peas and green beans). |
