The Adventure Begins !

This week has seen the start of the rally with introductions, safety briefings, communication exercises, administration and individual boat safety checks.

The best bit has been the rally party, held at the Gibraltar yacht club, an opportunity to meet the other crews, have a few drinks and impress everybody with some very dodgy dancing on the dance floor!

All 18 yachts are now in Gibraltar and the other Discovery 55 ‘Roundabout’, with our friends, David and Joe, Susannah and Eddie, is moored next to us, bringing back memories of Ocean Village when we were also moored together.

David and Mark have been doing lots of male bonding, carrying out boat maintenance and trying out their new diving gear together…..

They had almost finished servicing all the furling sail systems when a crucial fitting fell in the water, despite another dive it has not yet been recovered and we are waiting for a professional diver to arrive to help.

This weekend we are off to Smir in Morocco and the rally have arranged a trip to an ancient Moroccan town and souk with a traditional meal in the evening.
