Happy Birthday to my sister, Alison in Boston USA !

Aydincik

Lo was waiting in his dinghy to take our lines ashore when we arrived at Aydincik around 4pm in the afternoon.

Blue Magic and Sol Maria were last to arrive as we had dropped anchor along the way for a swim and some lunch.

We hopped ashore via our dinghy and took beer supplies to share with the rally helpers who had rescued Blue Magic the night before.

The next morning Gavin helped Mark replace the broken vertical battens in our mainsail, much to my relief as Mark and I usually argue about the best approach and never get the job done !

I kept a low profile below, e mailing Discovery about our little electrical problem. Claire was very helpful and efficient, as usual, and has sent a new isolator switch to Cyprus for us.

We had a rally meeting at 5pm and we were given a mooring plan for the next harbour, Blue Magic has been instructed to arrive first – the trip is only 35 miles but the pressures on !

I can’t imagine we will be first to leave as yachts have been starting out at the crack of dawn and I really don’t do early mornings unless absolutely necessary.

Our meeting was followed by a private tour of a Byzantine Mosaic that has been recently excavated by the University and depicts the harbour as it was 1500 years ago.

The town here is rather ramshackle and dusty however we found a little café on the roadside where we had lunch and arranged a table for dinner. Eight of us ate a lovely meal of mixed salad followed by chicken with peppers and tomatoes flavoured with herbs including mint.

Obviously the only dish of the day as we had the same for lunch !

We took our own wine and bought beers from a tiny shop next door.

Today Mustafa, from lead yacht ‘Mistral’, has arranged a guided tour around the Mosque and there is a rally barbeque this evening.

Mark is busy tackling yet another ‘job’ this morning as one of the sea cocks is not working properly, he has dived under to hammer a bung in the hole and has just appeared with a big smile saying :-

“ Who’s the Daddy ?!!” so I assume he has been successful.
