Day 14

Position 09:06.58S 130:06.86W The wind has dropped a bit today and so our speed has
decreased which is a little frustrating as we are now counting the days to
arrival and we don’t want any unexpected delays. We keep studying the chart plotter for the latest
predictions of our arrival and it seems the goal posts are constantly being
moved slowly away from us ! Just before dusk tonight we saw an Albatross which circled
us several times – what a site to see. The Albatross are on their way North to Galapagos at this
time of year to mate and bring up their young. They fly non stop for over 3000
miles before landing in Galapagos and finding their mate (they mate for life) then
begins the ritual mating dance of clacking their long beaks together. Sausage and tomato and bean chilli casserole tonight. ETA Sunday 11th April 2010 |
