More Salalah

More Salalah….. We are learning more about Salalah every day. When eating in the local restaurants, each group or family
are allocated an individual room. Outside the restaurants look very big, inside they are a maze
of small corridors with doors or curtained entrances to your own dining
‘room’
Yesterday Katrin & I scanned the local hypermarket for
some more suitable clothing for our extended stay here. We tried on everything in the shop and made lots of mess, it
was great as all the shop assistants were men so they just ignored us since we
were not supposed to be out on our own anyway !
Katrin bought her Abaya at a bargain price, mine was definitely
too short so I opted for some other choices …. watch this space for the
latest fashion updates every day…..
This salawa tunic has an Indian influence, embellished with
hand embroidery and sparkles. Great for crisp spring days and especially useful in the
midday heat of the desert. More strange Salalah facts…. The hypermarket also sells every electrical appliance
imaginable including TV’s, DVD players and complete entertainment
systems. However it is prohibited to sell DVD’s so no films, series or
any western media. This afternoon we arranged to Skype Katie at home Sunday
morning – but more restrictions – Skype is banned here in It is all very interesting and we are so lucky to be
visiting Oman before it gets ruined by tourists !!! |
