Goodbye Crete

We took Katie and Charlie to the airport today. We have really enjoyed having them both to stay again, it
has been like Christmas. Now it is like January, getting back to routine and
thinking about our next passage. Katie & Charlie have had a mixed week weather wise with
big rolling waves, high winds and clouds yesterday, the only people on the
beach were the kite surfers. So when we returned to the marina this afternoon we couldn’t
believe it when we saw that the sea had calmed and the beach and the water were
crowded with holiday makers – they won’t be impressed ! We had a fantastic meal out last night, to round off the
week, in a little Greek restaurant called ‘Alana’ that Mark found
on Google – highly recommended. As all of Santorini sounds spectacular, it is a giant volcano with the
island circling around the centre of the volcano which is now full of water. The cliffs are 150 – 300 metres high (with a further
300 metres below the water) and are variegated in pastel shades of red, brown,
grey, green and blue. |
