3rd August 2012

I was a bit apprehensive about venturing out from our calm anchorage after the rolly seas of the day before, but all was well and we had a cracking 4 hr sail with flat seas all the way to Leros.

We anchored outside the Marina and it was lovely to be back where we received a warm welcome from the locals that we had got to know over the winter.

So a week of catching up with work (as we know it), Mark serviced the generator and I got to grips with Company end of year accounts and backups, plus cleaning and laundry.

A visit to my hairdresser in Leros was a treat and at 30 Euros for colours, cut and blow dry a bargain too !

Below the main Street ashore and Mark gets out the tools, takes the boat apart and reads the manual in preparation for the generator service.

Naturally, all ‘man jobs’ start with getting out all the tools and taking the boat apart

10th August 2012

Well look who has just rolled into the anchorage…..

It’s ‘Sol Maria’ !

We spent a lovely few days catching up with our Kiwi friends, Gavin & Lica, who we met when they joined us on the Blue Water Rally in 2010 from Fiji to Marmaris.

We took to the bikes and toured the Island with them, stopping at all our favourite places, Aghios Isadora

Pandelli Castle which we explored inside for the first time as it had been shut all winter.

Gyros for lunch in Aghios Marina and Pork Stephado in our little Greek restaurant in Laki.

We also enjoyed New Zealand venison on board Sol Maria one night – delicious.

Our next adventure together will be the Vasco de Gamma Rally which starts from Turkey in September and takes us through the Suez Canal to Egypt for the winter.

It will be great to see the sights in Egypt and dive the Red Sea, all the things that we missed when our boats were shipped through the Red Sea to Marmaris.
