We are anchored off Kupang rolling about with several other rally yachts, waiting for quarantine clearance before we are allowed ashore to check in at immigration and customs.

The quarantine man does not have a boat – so we have to pick him up from the beach and run him around the boats. Apparently the quarantine runs smoothly if you offer the guy a bottle of wine for his trouble !

Customs is not proving so easy at present as they are demanding a bond for half the value of our boat that they promise to return when we leave !

The anchorage overlooks the town with tall waterside properties that look completely abandoned and dilapidated, a bit like the slums along the canals of Bangkok, so should be very interesting.
