It is very interesting here, as visitors are certainly a novelty with the locals staring, laughing and calling to us when we walk down the street.

They all seem very friendly and we have enjoyed wandering around the ‘shops’ and markets and eating from the market food stalls where they cook up fish or sticks of chicken satay on a barbeque as you order.

It reminds us of Thailand, although only a very few speak English and there are no girls in the bars waiting for ‘customers’.

Mark still has a bad back so yesterday, with the help of Alex to translate, we were taken to a local ‘spa’ (derelict house) and we both had a massage. The girls were very friendly and the massage was very good, and provided you closed your eyes and had a good imagination you could have been back at our luxury spa in Fiji !

£7 for an hour massage and £2 for dinner which is a welcome relief after the rip off prices in Australia.

Today we have hired scooters, there are 11 scooters going touring so we have been given a police escort !

The good news is that Richard from Blue Water Rallies has negotiated with customs and they have agreed to check us in without any bonds payable – yeah !

We want to leave tomorrow to head for Bali to meet the grandchildren but it is looking increasingly unlikely as customs want to take away our passports to process our entry.

So it may be a couple of overnight trips to catch up !
