The tide pushed us along at speeds of up to 11.5 knots and so we arrived early !

We anchored in Fanny Bay in Darwin just after 6pm as a squall of heavy rain and very high winds hit us.

Luckily it all passed over after 20mins or so and we enjoyed a quiet night – catch up time after all those night watches, we slept for nearly 12 hours - bliss.

Today we took a long dinghy ride ashore and had lunch at the yacht club.

Mark had a few beers with the lads and I bought a new bikini with the girls so a good time was had by all !

We got back to the boat around 2pm in time to be disinfected for black mussels. We now wait until tomorrow for this to work and then all the boats will be heading into the marina at 15 minute intervals through a lock gate that accommodates just one yacht at a time.

Darwin looks very promising and we are looking forward to the swimming pool, the open air deckchair cinema and Aquascene fish feeding at high tide, once we have completed all our ‘jobs’ of course!

Then we will be off camping for a few days in the Kakadu National Park.

And , most important, it is countdown now until we see the grandchildren in Bali on 25th October.
