We caught the ferry from Manly into the city, as we rounded
the harbour the Sydney
Harbour Bridge
and the Opera House came into view, what a site !

After walking around the Opera House we headed through the
botanical gardens, towards Sydney
Tower, taking a rest
in Mrs Macquarie’s chair on the way.
We went to the top of Sydney
Tower and took in the fantastic views
over the city before continuing our tour through the grand QVB (Queen Victoria
Building) and into Darling Harbour
where we had a well earned lunch stop.
We sat outside with Rob & Julie, people watching and
enjoying mussels, fresh fish and a nice chilled bottle of Marlborough Sauvignon
Blanc !

Next stop was ‘The Rocks’ area, the oldest part
of Sydney with
lots of traditional buildings, pubs, shops and a museum.
After getting ourselves a bit lost we finally met up with
Kathy and the children who had come into Sydney
to meet us for afternoon tea at the Rocks, followed by sundowners on the top
floor of the Shangri La Hotel.
From the hotel we had a spectacular view of the Sydney Harbour
bridge in rush hour and the Opera House beside it with the sunset in the back
ground.
The day was rounded off with a tasty thai meal and some BYO
(bring your own) wine.
A big thank you to Julie and Kathy for being such excellent
tour guides during our stay in Sydney.
