Hi folks

We are in Des Sables D’Olong on the Vendee pontoon where all the race boats left in November for the start of the Vendee Globe.

The pontoon is open to the public and is great for viewing te yachts, we are the subject of lots of attention from passers by who stop to discuss the boat in great detail!

‘Akena’ on of the Vendee participants              Passers by were also useful for taking photos                 The Vendee pontoon with ‘Blue Magic’

We caught the ferry over to Des Sables ( the beaches) yesterday and walked the promenade. The beaches are huge with specific areas for swimming, surfing, sailing and kite surfing.

We went French for lunch and sampled Gallettes with a bottle of the regional cidre – yum yum.

We also wandered around the town and bought a T shirt in the Vendee Globe official shop – well it has to be done !

This morning we are leaving at the respectable time of 10.00am to sail around to La Rochelle. We have tried to let the harbour master know by e-mail that we are arriving as we need him to open the bridge for us – but so far no reply ……..watch this space !
