The peaceful night at Belle Ile began well until we were rudely awakened at around 1.30am with the very unpleasant sensation of being trapped in a washing machine on full cycle!

The wind had come right around to NE (not as forecasted the day before) and was blowing straight into the harbour, whipping up the sea and slapping the boat around.

We couldn’t sleep and so decided we would try to beat the wind at this game by leaving for the next port, taking advantage of the wind in the right direction for sailing.

It was a brilliant idea, we have now been sailing for 9 hours at a steady 7 knots, taking it in turns to sleep peacefully and we will arrive in good time to search out an internet café ashore for skyping this afternoon.

The time is 11.00am , the destination is Des Sables D’Olone and we have 14 miles left of the 85 mile trip.
