Day 1

We pulled up both stern and forward anchors and left Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz, Galapagos at 11.00am on Thursday 25th March 2010, destination Nuku Hiva, Marquesas Islands 3000 miles away.

Motor sailing with little wind until midnight when I turned the engine off on my watch and we have been sailing ever since.

Mince with spring onions, noodles and hoi sin sauce wrapped in lettuce leaves for dinner.

Day 2

Lots of excitement as we hoisted the cruising chute for the first time since leaving the UK nearly 12 months ago !

First attempt was a nice wrap but second attempt was good and Ashley & I perfected the take down first time, it helped to ban Mark from the foredeck and put him on the helm with precise instructions !

We missed Katie’s step by step guidance.

Dinner Stir fry chicken with ginger and spring onions, broccoli and red pepper.

Sailing well around 7knots with up to 2 knots of current so we are covering lots of ground, 180 miles the first day.

The sea has been a bit confused but will hopefully settle into a more steady rhythm before too long.

Our new crew member is settling in well !
