Yesterday we sailed to Roseau, the capital of Dominica where ‘Poncho’ greeted us and arranged mooring buoys for the five rally boats and a water and land taxi into the town.

Friday is market day in Roseau and the market stays open all night selling local produce.

We bought locally grown ginger, Pak Choi, carrots, mangoes and bananas, from a huge variety of fresh produce laid out on tiny home made stalls.

The evening was completed with a few bottles of locally brewed ginger shandy in a lively bar followed by dinner of Dolphin fish (mahi mahi) in West Indian hot sauce and a few bottles of chilled red at a local restaurant.

Today we woke up to find all the other boats, except Jackamy, had already departed and so we too set off for a rather boisterous sail over to Martinique.

Since the capital at Fort de France is closed on a Sunday, including the customs and immigration, we had a change of plan and we are now anchored off Saint Pierre with Jackamy, where we plan to go ashore and make use of the DIY check in at the local internet café….and take the half hour hike to the local distillery !
