Today was
exiting but tiring. None of us got much good sleep. Every 2 hours or so the
radar showed something nasty. And sure enough, in the real world there it was as
well. Big rain clouds towering high up in the sky. Some we dodged by going North
a bit and some by going South. But we didn’t managed to dodge them all. One
particularly large one we just had to take head on. From behind actually because
all these rain clouds were more or less stationary.
After we
passed through a couple of them we hit Westerly winds. That would mean we went right through the
Trough and now we are motor sailing with little over 5 knots of wind. After 4
hours of motoring the wind veered to the North East but still only 5
knots.
Hopefully
the wind will increase during the night. In the mean time we got quite a show
from Nature, just East of us there was a massive Lighting show. Better than the
ARC fireworks and much more environmental. I just hope that Rosea won’t be too
caught up in that. Rosea is just a little behind us according to the ARC
positions list.
Everybody
aboard feels we are getting closer
to St
Lucia. Only 1162 miles to go (as of 8-12-2008
03:17 UTC) which means we have some 8 – 10 days to go. We crossed the Mid
Atlantic Trough. That´s a major Waypoint as well.
The 1000-miles to go party is planned at
9-12-2008 08:00h UTC at 14:46N 43:47W and everybody is invited! Free drinks for
all! So, come on Windancer, Tatt av Vinde, Ohana, Lucy Blue, Off Spring and
Rosea. Turn around and come to the improvised Pontoon 17 1000 miles to go
party!
