Many of our ARC friends have made landfall. Good for them, congratulations to them all!

And some of our ARC friends haven’t yet and neither have we. But we are getting closer. The wind is very favourable. We are plotting along with an average of 7 knots. If this wind holds Isabelle’s going to win.

Mid Atlantic we had a little wager. Which day will we make landfall? Mind you, in those days 120 miles a day was a very good day and the navigation computer put us in St Lucia after Christmas. Yannick choose the 22nd, Isabelle the 15th and I choose the 16th. It will still be close between Isabelle and I. But alas no reward was set.

That’s different now. The stakes have been raised, booze and chocolate! Isabelle projects that landfall will happen at 16-12 01:00h local time. Yannick put us on St Lucia on 16-12 17:00h and I think that we will arrive at 16-12 05:00h.

If this wind holds Isabelle is going to win, twice. The computer projects arrival at 15-12 22:00h local time. So Isabelle will win a lot of chocolate. And I’m sure she is going to love it. For almost a month she hasn’t had a single piece of chocolate since that tends to make her a bit sea sick which normally never happens. A month of not having chocolate is a record in its own right for Isabelle. This month has seen many records broken. After we make landfall we will write them all down.

The rest of the day and night went along smooth. No squalls, clear skies and a large school of around 50 Dolphins who came to visit SeaWalk for an hour.

Every now and then, we look at the mileage to the finish. Each milestone is celebrated. Within 24 hours we had the 300 miles to go and the 200 miles to go party. Just now we hit the 100 miles to go marker. Very enjoyable all those parties.

St Lucia, we are on our way, keep those bottles on ice and the showers steaming hot! Oh, how we long for a long hot shower. The last two weeks I had my showers in the cockpit with buckets of warm sea water. Very refreshing but still.

99 miles to go! ETA is now the 15th around midnight or very early in the morning at the 16th.  ARC friends whom have already arrived, come celebrate with us our arrival! Or are you getting rid of all the sleep deprivation you had to endure during the trip. I can image! Well anyway, see you soon….
