Dare I say it? I believe we’ve found the Trade Winds. SeaWalk is happily on its way to St Lucia. Tonight I had to throw a Flying Fish back in the ocean because it got trapped behind our rail netting. Our entire boat is surrounded in netting since we have kids aboard and it is a good trap for Flying Fish.

We are seeing many boats now. One was even 38 meters (!) going for Grenada where her owner will join to spent Christmas. No credit crunch for him, I guess.

But there are other ARC yachts too. We overtook no less than two of them. One was Abim a big sister (50 foot Jeanneau) of SeaWalk. Strange since she should be the faster boat and we are definitely not running on top speed. We are running a high aspect jib and Genoa goose winged and SeaWalk loves this. And so do we.

But when will we experience tranquillity? Every day now we had to change sails many times getting the most out of the wind. When will we see steady Trades for days on end? I can´t wait.

Watch keeping is tough. Four hours on and four hours off. This afternoon I has some extra sleep and felt much more rested. How Madonna is coping, I don’t know. Madonna is a Norwegian 31.7 foot First (officially the smallest boat in the fleet) which is running in front of the fleet with 3 children on board and flying a spinnaker all the time. Hand steering all the way! Wow. Leaving all the big boats behind them. Go Madonna!
