We timed our trip to Darmouth well, the sun was shining and Dartmouth had a whole weekend of entertainment on.  The Dartmouth Music Festival started on Friday through till Sunday night with every type of music from Jazz, Big Bands to Folk.

David’s Daughter and son, Lisa and Ryan arrived Friday night, I did a big bowl of Spaghetti Bolognese and we ribbed over to see what it was all about.

Jingo Santana a Tribute band was playing in the Bandstand in the open air, we got ourselves some beers and sat with everyone else on the grass – cool holiday mode already starting.

Saturday, sunny again so after a feast of bacon and eggs we went across to Dartmouth side of the river, every bar, nook and cranny was filled with musicians strumming or beating their tunes out.  Big AJ’s Band @ 2pm in the bandstand then off we trotted to the Britannia Royal Navel College, after an airport security check at the gates we were allowed into the grounds, the Band of the HM Royal Marines we beating the retreat…lump in the throat job.  We marched after the Marines down the hill to the exit.  A man in uniform does it for me….

We took our picnic into to the park, spread our blanket out and listened to music till 8pm, catching the rays and drinking a lovely cool sauvignon Blanc in plastic glasses, heaven.  Went back to the boat with a fish/chips and mushy pea supper.
