Well we left Fort Lauderdale and sailed the 20 miles down the coast, keeping on the 15 meter contour to keep out of the Gulf Stream. I did a few calculations and from Fort Lauderdale I needed to steer about 145 degrees, too much against the current, whereas from Miami because it’s also a shorter distance to Bimini I can steer 115 degrees, so almost perpendicular.

 

A lovely day, we washed the boat down and set off after lunch and hope the wind is good for tomorrow, Friday. Suzanne has filled out the US Customs and Border Protection papers and completed our entry forms for the Bahamas, so it’s goodbye USA – and we are pleased to be moving on – Florida is really nice, but the rest of well – you decide.
