A good sailing day, but none in the right direction again, so the choice is still north or south of our rhumb line, but it’s difficult to make any way towards our destination as the wind still sticks stubbornly on 280, but our diesel situation is reasonable, both water tanks are full, food is holding up superbly well and we are all doing fine.

We headed south on starboard tack most of the day, as it gives a better VMG than port tack, saw a few cloud systems on the horizon and hoped they may signal a wind shift or a new weather pattern, but to no avail. As dusk fell the wind died again and it was on with the engine once more to drive over the halfway point at 42W, with just over 1,000M to go.

We hoped to make the trip in 12 days with arrival around 6 Dec, I planned 14, but it looks more like 16 days, so possibly 10 Dec. This is a shame because we were due to meet friends, Phil & Bev, in Barbados who are arriving to start a Caribbean Cruise and leave on Dec 8 and I can’t see us now arriving in time.

Trouble ahead mid Atlantic

1,052M to go to Bridgetown, Barbados.
