Our stay in Cape Verde in Mindelo on Sao Vicente Island is coming to an end
and we are about to leave
for our Atlantic crossing in a couple of hours (17.00 Wed 24th Nov).
We have just spent a great couple
of days on Santo Antao island, crossing by ferry and finding our way round
by Alugier (local open back
taxis). A very different island with very high lush mountains,
sugar plantations and the Atlantic
crashing into rocky shores. We stayed in Paul and then onto Pte
de Sol where did a breathtaking
costal walk. Finally we ended up in a lovely hotel in the
mountains with its own fresh water swimming
pool. A great experience , the Afro-Portuguese local are very
friendly and it felt totally safe.
Finally sorted at 17.00 GMT slipped lines and set of west into the
sunset. Light winds which we hope
will pick up a bit (but not too much). Hopefully we will be in touch
via the sat phone e-mail link during
