Well Suzie Too (Number 3) is back on the seas sailing, so we is a blogging again !!

Just an update on why Lisa go so ill during the last 3 weeks she was with us  – she was bitten by female sand flies and contracted Leishmaniasis. The symptoms of Leishmaniasis are skin sores which erupt weeks to months after the person affected is bitten by sand flies. Other consequences, which can manifest anywhere from a few months to years after infection, include fever, damage to the spleen, liver and cause anemia. She had 3 or 4 bites on hers legs, which have left very nasty scars, so I think the disease count was 1 x Denge (Amina on Naomi II) 1 x Malaria (Nico’s Brazilian girlfriend Lettice) and Lisa with Leishmaniasis

So although we thought she may have got her mosquito bites infected it looks like she was much more seriously ill and has just had a further 3 weeks off work with the symptoms, feeling very ill
