Here we are 75 miles off the coast and over 100 miles north of the Amazon Delta with a trip of about 475 miles from Afua to Kourou. The water is now a brackish green colour, at lunchtime today we crossed the line from the mud brown water and immediately caught fish. The first was a Spanish Mackerel, then we hooked into a Yellow Fin Tuna, but as we lifted from the water the 3 prong hook bent and it was free, so we found a stronger hook and the next one we landed at about 5-6kg. So it was mackerel fillets for lunch and Suzanne will freeze some of the tuna to make sushi later.

The water out here is so shallow, less than 10m for the first 50 miles off the coast, even now it is only 15m, so we could actually anchor for the night if we get tired. There is not a breath of wind and we have been motoring since 2100 last night, so we will have to go into Kourou for fuel and water, where I hope we can stay as I would like to go to the Arianne Space Centre, before moving on the 200 miles to Paramaribo.
