Our position is 28:20:25S 108:15:12W
This is a tricky sail. The trades want us to go west, but we are going east. We are now headed south where we should be a stationary high and then westerlies. The question is when. The grib file show some relief in the near future - 6-12 hours.
At the moment we have the wind on the nose, fairly strong too. It is fast if not particularly comfortable.
Easter Island was fine, and we enjoyed our short stay. The history and the Moais, is, however, most of all a testament to human folly. The Island is deforested and looks very barren. I can see these people cutting down the wood and spending all their time making huge statues to appease the goods. It was all downhill from there.
We will post more from Easter Island later. At the moment it is quite an effort just sitting at the chart table writing this.
