Another quite little anchorage off a beautiful beach. The villagers were just here, curious as always (there is always a village). They left with some fish hooks and some T shirts. They seemed very happy about that, but communication is difficult since they speak no English and we no Bahasa.
Yesterday added a bit of drama and excitement. The Blitz'es went ashore into a large village, and was at first met with the customary smiles and greetings. Then what was probably the village strong man turned up in a very threatening mood. He made it very clear that he wanted to cut their throats (that sign is fairly universal). The mood of the village changed also. The Blitz'es got out in their dinghy, and 5 minutes later we were under way. We still do not understand why the change took place, but this area had troubles and bomb blasts as late as 2007. The Muslim communities hare are very strong, and it could be a general reaction to westerners, or it may be a reaction to Dave (Blitz's skipper) who got very upset because a local boat scratched Blitz's sides badly just an hour earlier. By now we are far away and feel very safe. In a couple of days we will be under way towards Flores and more commonly visited parts of Indonesia.
