Banda was really interesting. We were able to see traditional boat/shipbuilding up close, down to using wood plugs rather than rivets. No drawings, just traditions and a good feeling for what a boat should look like. The big village appears rather well off. People come from all over Indonesia to bay their boats. It was also a very friendly village. 40 laughing and smiling kids were following us when we went walkabout giving rise to dust cloud wherever we went. We may not be celebrities anymore, but we are apparently still very entertaining.
We are now in the slightly more touristy town Labuan Bajo where there are even other Europeans and other yachties. The place is again very friendly with interesting things to see. Rinca with the Komodo dragons are across the sound. We will visit them in a fed days.
