Our position is 40:21:77N 124:37:96W
We are going south - fast. The northerly wind materialized, and we were off. It is blowing 25-30 knots, so progress is very good with 7 knots and above.
Yesterday we tried to stop in Crescent City. That is the worst harbour we have seen so far. There were hardly any boats there, no wonder. This is were Hitchcock filmed "The Birds". As far as we could tell, the birds are the only living still there.
Fair enough, we didn't see the town. Probably quite charming, but the harbour was enough to scare us away. It didn't help that the fog was thick as pea soup. Only the chart plotter and the radar saved us from being stuck with the birds. The birds, incidently, were quite ok. We did not expect an attack from the resident pelicans.
Next stop is San Francisco or any marina close by. According to resent reports the fog has lifted and the temperature is 35C. Jon says hello.
