We are in what is arguably one of the most expensive marinas in the world. We came in here just to look and maybe stay one night. A local Japanese decided, however, that we should stay and invited us to be his guests. That gave us one night free and the rest for half price. Now it is suddenly fairly reasonable. Then the General Manager turns up to say that this is not the price for foreign boats. We should get another 50% off. Taking into account that we are in a very good marina this is now good value indeed. I think we will stay for a few days even if a marina in Tokyo has offered us a week free of charge.... Japan is not quite like other countries. No wonder people get stuck here. Incidentally Yokohama means something like "the beach for travels abroad", and it was initially the only place foreigners were allowed to stay in Japan. Tomorrow we are off to see Yokohama and Tokyo, and then maybe Kyoto.
