Debut/Tual was an endless celebration with dances and more dances, then a carnival and lots and lots of food. After 4 days from 0900-2200 we were exhausted. They never gave us a chance to pay for anything.
The overnight sail from Debut to Banda was our day off.
Banda is not, however, quite the same as the other islands in the Molukas. The place was the center of the nutmeg trade. The little town is more commercial, although in a very lean back way. The scenery is breathtaking with a smoking volcano in front of us and lush nutmeg plantations behind the stern. The anchor is 30 meters down and it is necessary to have a line ashore at a little, friendly hotel. The water is crystal clear. We now look forward to diving, snorkling and tours around the islands. More about that later.
