We are finally on our way to Vanuatu, more precisely to Port Resolution on Tanna Island. Eta Friday 0100 UTC. The weather is good with forecasted winds of 20-25 knots. It should be a quick passage.
The time in Fiji has been fantastic, and it was difficult to leave. The people here are extraordinary with the warmest smiles available. It is only matched by the scenery above and below water. The coral is very much alive as were the manta rays coming through the pass at Naviti. Nothing bad? The only problem is that a large proportion of the population are pyromaniacs. The islands are literally burning. Sometimes a village is lost. With Greece in mind this may not be the way to go. Particularly since they are burning the bush next to the oil and gas terminal which is again is next to the main marina at Vuda Point. Close to Vitu Levu the soot is constantly falling on the boats.
Since we last posted on this site we have had many visitors. First Jørn, Anita and Ragni from Norway, the Fredrik from Houston. We are always a little sad when they leave, but find some comfort in the local cruising community and the fact that we are going home for a while in a few months. Before that, on September 6th. we get a new "crew" onboard. Tore Uthaug is flying in to Tanna to help me sail the boat to Australia after Eva goes home towards the end of September.
