Today would have been my father’s 90th birthday. I hope he is looking down on us and watching our slow progress towards St Lucia. We don’t drink on passage, but when we do arrive I will raise a glass or two to his memory.
We are still in the doldrums, struggling to make 4 knots, interspersed with wet squalls.
Carmen climbed the mast the other day and found that we have lost our navigation lights!! They were there when we checked just before leaving St Helena, I can only assume that some very big bird tried perching up there.
The sun has just risen, one of the great pleasures of ocean sailing is watching the sun rise over the horizon.
Still no fish, but Mother has made us a clay fish as a good luck charm, I hope it works from 3500 miles away.
Fair winds
